Tartine Artisinal is the branching café venture

Our flagship café is nestled in the busy eatery stretch of Tooting High Street, a minute’s amble from Tooting Broadway Station. On approach, one can spot it for the vintage delivery bike parked outside and a covered, decked area of two-seater tables fringing the pavement. Early doors, homely cereal baguette aromas meet a diner’s arrival and flanking the doorway. An array of candy coloured cupcakes, large iced gateaux, moist carrot cake, dense rich chocolate cheesecake and citron and berry tarts bejewel the farthest end of the counter, but for those strongwilled enough to bypass these in favour of a healthier meal, there are very tasty North African and Mediterranean starters and mains ranging from Moroccan-style Mexican wraps (it’s all in the sauce!), lamb sausage, mezze platters, pasta and char- grilled burgers, served with side salads and and/or frites.

Tartine Artisinal

Tartine Artisinal draws a steady crowd of mixed residents through the week, with Saturday and Sunday mornings being extremely popular times when all sixty seats are easily snapped up by brunching local families.

We have a wonderful team of people working here and really nice regular customers, based on a great service delivery. We make our produce in an artisan style; fresh, handmade, great tasting, quality food.

Our menu consists mostly North African/French/Mediterranean dishes. We prepare favourite traditional dishes, with ‘twists’ so that we draw on the best flavours but prepare food in a way that suits the cosmopolitan London café palate.

We consider Tartine Artisinal to be a family business and we use sauces and spice combinations from family recipes; things like our Chemoula sauce (harissa chilli, lemon and ginger flavoured) for the chicken or our Samurai sauce (a mayonnaise based cheese and harissa chilli sauce) which we serve in our wraps. We’re careful with sourcing quality products and try to do this locally, as much as possible but we do source some ingredients from France. The occasional sweet is ordered locally. Our coffee is an Italian brand but the famous Algerian store in Soho supplies all of our teas - their peppermint and green teas are popular here.

We promote a Loyalty Card which can be used at both the Tooting and Balham cafes and for every five hot drinks you buy the sixth is free. We can cater to parties outside of the café (for a minimum order of six per party).

At Balham there is also a lovely downstairs area for private hire, which holds up to thirty five people.
